Family members and businessmen shouldn’t be worried that they can’t reach their loved ones and associates in the Middle East and India. It’s not because of some political censorship or terrorist activity, but rather the reason is they’re no longer connected to the internet. They’re having a small problem: they have been disconnected because of two damaged undersea cables in the Mediterranean.
There was disruption to 70% of the nationwide network in Egypt, and India suffered up to 60% disruption.
UK firms such as British Airways have told the BBC that call centres have been affected by the outage.
Industry experts said it could take up to one week to repair the damaged cables and resume full service.
International telephone calls, which have also been affected, are being rerouted to work around the problem.
Repairs are on going as you read this. Hopefully full or partial services will be up within the week.

One of the founders of Yahoo and Flicker was apparently pissed enough at the two internet giants, Microsoft for messing with them and Google for not taking them in, that they have come up with their own crowd-sourcing program called “HUNCH”. Coined as a rival to Yahoo’s Answers and Google’s other sites, it’s aim is to get search results for what is popularly accepted by more people as the right answer to a specific question. More closer to the social internet compared to the search engines from the two other search giants, it takes information fro the many social networking web sites, indexes them and presents them not only to relevance but also according to popularity according to the millions of other users who may have searched for the same information. The many security breaches at the popular micro-blogging site has again been seen as one of the worst performing, internet-based companies the world over in terms of security with thousands of people affected by many security holes and breaches in the past few months. This type of negative publicity is considered by the micro-blogging site as publicity and even with wide gaping holes in their API, they continue to grow by leaps and bounds each and every day as if people aren’t listening. One new problem they are facing is the set coming of the Twitpocalypse or the meeting of a pre-set condition tbat would bring an unimaginable death to the whole system, crashing or totally ceasing to function. This current problem is apparently due to a pre-set binary number that goes back to the days when the base-system of the social networking site was under development. Been looking for an Instant Messenger (IM) client that allows you to chat with almost anyone? Don’t want to download a software client because it’s a pain for your Hard Disk Drive? Then it’s time for you to try out meebo.
Meebo is an instant messaging software that runs inside a Web browser, as AIM Express, which supports multiple IM services, including Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, AIM, ICQ, Jabber and Google Talk. Meebo makes instant messaging services more accessible to users who are unable or unwilling to download the software necessary to implement them.
It also allows you to change wallpapers and create your own private rooms. Unfortunately, it can’t do features of Yahoo and others for obvious reasons. But still, if you like plain old chatting without of the other frills then meebo is the right one for you.

A social bookmarking system has many advantages over traditional resource location. All classifications of the resources is done by actual persons or people. They understand the content of the resource, unlike the programmed softwares, which uses algorithm to determine the meaning of a particular resource. People tend to find and bookmark web pages that may not have been indexed by web spiders. In addition to that, social bookmarking system ranks a resource, based on the number of times it has been bookmarked by users rather than rank it according to number of external links. From the search data perspective, there is no standard set of keywords, no standard for the structure of tags, mistagging, unclear tags. Social bookmarking is also not immune to corruption. Due to its popularity, some users have started considering it as a tool to use for SEO or search engine optimization to make their website rank higher. Spammers use them also to tag the page multiple times.
